Surgical Specialties
A board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Dillawn takes a laparoscopic approach to surgery whenever best for the patient. He uses his skills to treat a variety of conditions, including hernias, cancer, and conditions of the gallbladder, thyroid, and gastrointestinal (digestive) tract.
Dr. Dillawn performs gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, and adjustable gastric banding (Lap-Band and Realize Band) to treat morbid obesity. He also performs surgery to revise procedures performed elsewhere. After a rigorous examination of his surgical outcomes and practice, he was awarded the distinction of being an ASBMS Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence Surgeon.
Education and Professional Associations
After graduating from the University of Texas-Houston Medical School, Dr. Dillawn completed his General Surgery Residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. He earned his B.A. with honors in Biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Dillawn is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and the National Board of Medical Examiners. In addition, he is a member of the American Medical Association, Surgical Society of Austin, Texas Medical Association, Travis County Medical Society. He is a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).
Biography
Having graduated from UT, Dr. Dillawn was eager to return to Austin's running trails.
